Offa's Dyke: Just ½ mile away from
Norton Manor Hotel, Offa's Dyke passes Norton.
This
was
constructed in the 8th Century, at the order of the Saxon
King Offa of Mercia,
in order
to keep the Welsh from marauding in
neighbouring Mercia. On the trail
there is a monument inscribed in
honour of the achievements of
Sir Richard Green-Price of Norton Manor.
Norton Church of St. Andrew: Norton's
church dates from mediaeval times, although
only
the nave still contains
any mediaeval masonry. The church was restored in 1868
by Sir
George Gilbert Scott in Victorian Gothic style. Many stained glass windows are attributed
to the memory of Sir Richard Green-Price, who is laid to rest here
alongside some of his family.

with more than 5000 rare trees and shrubs - described as
‘one of the finest collections of trees and shrubs in
Britain’.
Hereford Cathedral and Mappa Mundi: Contains some of the
finest examples of architecture from Norman times up to
the present day. Features two historical treasures: the
mediaeval Mappa Mundi and Chained Library.

the edge of the town.
